One of the great things about travelling are the many opportunity to run into to take pictures. There are just too many great
things to take pictures of in this world. I won't even try to put a caption on these two pictures because I think they speak
better then any words I can write.
It has been a lot of miles since I wrote in this part of the web site. We had not even left for the east coast of the
U.S. It just shows you may not have as much time when you think you have a lot of time. Every day since I last wrote has
been full of something.
We have now made it to Australia. At one time I could tell the differance between an Aussie and a Kiwi accent. I have
to admit my ear has become less descerning over the years and I have been wrong more often then right. So, like I learned
never to ask a woman "when is the baby due?", I have taken to asking "Where are you from?"
Today we are in Katoomba, New South Wales, which is 125 km from Sydney in the heart of the Blue Mountains. Its a beautiful
spot, and visited by large numbers of Asian tourists, who seem to travel in large groups. To get some space from these large
groups we headed for the Giant Stairway. Great name, huh? 1009 stairs down a very steep hillside. 1000 foot vertical drop.
And once at the bottom the boys wanted to walk back up. That makes 2018 steps in all. And they did us proud, with almost
no complaining in either direction. From there we went to the Scenic Railway, touted as the world's steepest incline railway,
250 meter vertical drop in 450 meters of incline. Complete with screams. Just like in a roller coaster.
Tomorrow its on to Wentworth Falls where you allegedly have to turn around and go down some of the steps face to the wall
to get down. Yipee.
